The British Computer Society (BCS), through its Bristol branch, regularly holds meetings hosted by the University and open to staff and students.

BCS is the leading UK body for those working in IT. With a worldwide membership in over 100 countries, it is the qualifying body for Chartered IT Professionals. It aims to promote the study and practice of computing and to advance knowledge of, and education in, IT. Meetings are regularly attended by staff from the Institute for Learning and Research Technology (ILRT) and are of potential interest to technical staff in Information Services and to postgraduate students and lecturers throughout the University.

The next meeting, on project management, will take place on Tuesday 15 January at The Hawthorns (refreshments 7 pm for a 7.30 pm start). The speaker is Don Southey. There is a nominal payment of £2 per meeting for non-BCS members (students free).
