Pupils from Teyfant Community School, Hartcliffe, will join Bristol University students and staff today [6 December] for a festive themed sports day at the University’s Centre for Sport, Exercise and Health.

Around 60 pupils will have the chance to take part in a number of activities they may not have previously tried before such as trampolining, multi-skills games and fencing. The pupils will also be taking part in a sports quiz and Christmas card making competition to celebrate the festive season.

With guidance from specially trained University staff and students, the event hopes to motivate and inspire the pupils, aged between ten and 11, and challenge themselves with learning a new sport.

The event is also a practical module for the University’s 16 students and staff completing the Community Sports Leader Award, an integral part of the University’s Community Sport Volunteer Scheme. All leaders are provided with additional training in first aid and child protection.

The day will run from 10.00 am to 4 pm on Thursday 6 December at the University’s Centre for Sport, Exercise and Health, Tyndall Avenue, Clifton, Bristol.
