Please note that this is not current information.

Do you want to learn how to use Windows on your computer or are you interested in creating your own web pages? Bristol University still has a number of places available on courses starting next week where you can achieve these aims.

'An intensive introduction to Windows computing - course 1', is for people who appreciate the value of professional tuition but don't have the time to devote to long courses. Covering the basics of computing, word processing, file management, spreadsheets and the Internet, the course will enable people to gain confidence and make rapid progress with their Windows PC.

The five-week course starts on Monday 8 October or Wednesday 10 October from 6.30 to 8.30 pm and costs £60 (concessions available).

'A web page in a day: getting started with FrontPage', is a one-day beginners' course to help you avoid creating the next bad website. Based around Microsoft FrontPage the course will cover good design, use of graphics and how to help people find your site once you have published it on the web.

The one-day course on Saturday 13 October runs from 10 am to 4.30 pm and costs £55.

'Spin your own web, courses 1: an introduction to HTML', is for people who want further insight into the way websites are constructed. The course covers the basics of HTML, good design practice, stylesheets and Javascript.

The five-week course starts on Tuesday 9 October or Thursday 11 October from 6.30 to 8.30 pm and costs £60 (concessions available).

Simon Cox, the Adult Education Project Manager for Bristol University's Institute for Learning and Research Technology, said: 'These courses cover the essentials while encouraging people to try things between classes and bring questions to the next sessions.'
