Clare Griffel

Instrument: Voice

Clare holds an LTCL Performer’s Diploma, and specialises in early vocal performance practice; she is currently Chair of the South-West Early Music Forum, and voice tutor to the NORVIS Early Music summer school at Durham University. She has received coaching from distinguished early music specialists including David Roblou and Nigel Rogers. She is the singer of Bristol-based baroque ensemble Musica Mundi, and has performed widely in the UK and in France, the Netherlands and Israel, in addition to directing workshops on early singing.

Formerly a member of the BBC West of England Singers, she also has an interest in new music, having given first performances of works by, among others, Julian Broughton and several members of the Severnside Composers’ Alliance.

Clare is a member of the British Voice Association, and has more than 20 years’ experience in voice teaching. Her approach is informed by her study of the Alexander Technique.
