| Areas of expertise | A focus of my research in the School for Policy Studies has been on the implementation and application of the Mental Capacity Act in Social and Health care settings. This has included work on Best Interests Decisions and on the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards. Since working in the School of Social Medicine, my work focus has expanded to include supporting and training clinicians in recruiting patients to clinical trials, and most recently, exploring doctor-patient interaction in General Practice. I have a particular methodological interest in the application of Conversation Analysis (CA) to study health and social care encounters. |
