Areas of expertise My research interests cover the exegesis, theology and history of the Middle Ages and Reformation. I am interested in individuals like Denis the Carthusian, Peter Martyr Vermigli and especially John Calvin. At present, my greatest fascination lies in biblical exegesis and reception amongst different interpreters, especially the Swiss and S. German (Capito, Pellican, Oecolampadius, Zwingli, etc).

Theologically, I am fascinated by the influence which different strains of medieval thought (such as the potentia absoluta) had on the theology of the reformers, especially Calvin. I have an abiding interest in John Bunyan, John Owen, George Whitefield, Robert Lewis Dabney and B.B Warfield. I have also done research on 'Old Latin' biblical manuscripts, and I have an abiding interest in the electronic book.
