endothelin converting enzymes in Alzheimer’s disease
Areas of expertise I studied for a Degree in Biochemistry at Southampton University. Following my graduation in 2005, I moved to Bristol to work as the DNA Bank Technician for the Dementia Research Group. After a spell in this role I undertook and successfully completed a BRACE funded PhD graduate student programme in 2010 at the University of Bristol under the supervision of Dr Patrick Kehoe and Professor Seth Love. The focus of the PhD was to investigate the role of Endothelin Converting Enzymes in Alzheimer’s Disease.
I have remained with the group to continue my research into the endothelin system and its potential role in disrupting blood flow in the brain in Alzheimer’s disease. My initial work was pilot work based on this topic and was supported by pilot project grants from BRACE and Alzheimer's Research Trust. In spring 2011 I embarked on a three year grant from the British Heart Foundation.
