Areas of expertise |
I have a very wide range of philosophical interests, but my research is concentrated in two central areas. One is the History and Philosophy of Science, with a special interest in Scientific Revolutions. The other is the Metaphysics and Epistemology of the Seventeenth and Eighteenth Centuries (roughly Descartes to Kant). I have recently (2003) completed a major study of the philosophy of Nicolas Malebranche (1638-1715) for Routledge’s Arguments of the Philosophers series. I am an active member of the British Society for the History of Philosophy, and I am on the editorial board of its journal, the British Journal for the History of Philosophy
