Areas of expertise My main research area is post-1945 American literature. I am interested in the relationship between history and fiction, and have published a number of articles in this field. My book, 'American Postmodernist Fiction and the Past', was published by Palgrave Macmillan in 2011.

I am currently engaged in two new projects. I am working on a book, tentatively titled, 'The New Coordinates of American Literature: Immigrant Writing and Transnationalism', which is concerned with exploring the shifting nature of American literature caused by the increase in immigrant writing since the 1965 Immigration and Nationality Act. I will discuss immigrant writing in the context of transnational theories of literature, but also suggest new ways that we might conceive American literature in the twenty-first century.

I am also working on an edited volume, provisionally called 'Heirs to the Masters', which will bring together essays on contemporary American writers with links to postmodernism.
