Professor Malcolm Evans, OBE, to chair UN Subcommittee for Prevention of Torture

On Tuesday 21st October Professor Malcolm Evans, OBE, will be in New York in his capacity as Chair of the UN Subcommittee for Prevention of Torture and will be presenting its 7th Annual Report to the UN General Assembly.

On Tuesday 21st October Professor Malcolm Evans, OBE, will be in New York in his capacity as Chair of the UN Subcommittee for Prevention of Torture and will be presenting its 7th Annual Report to the UN General Assembly. Together with the UN Special Rapporteur on Torture and the Chair of the UN Committee against Torture, he will be meeting with the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki Moon, to discuss issues concerning combating torture. He will also be speaking at a number of other events across the course of the day, including on the connection between corruption and torture in a meeting organised by Penal Reform International and Transparency International, and at a meeting organised by the recently launched Campaign against Torture Initiative.
