Gerard McMeel teaches, researches and practises in the field of contract and commercial law and has particular interests and expertise in the areas of agency, sales, international trade, insurance, financial advice, and restitution. He was educated at Brasenose College, Oxford, where he completed an undergraduate degree in Law and the BCL. Before joining Bristol's School of Law, he held teaching positions at Merton College, Oxford, and Southampton University. He was appointed Professor of Law at Bristol in 2002. He has held visiting positions at the University of Hong Kong, Tel Aviv University, the University of South Carolina, Duke University, North Carolina, City University and Exeter University. Gerard also practises as a barrister. He is a member of Guildhall Chambers in Bristol and a door tenant at Quadrant Chambers in London.
