Statistical Genetics

Professor David Evans is a visiting Professor at the University of Bristol and manages an affiliated programme of research in statistical genetics, linked to the MRC Integrative Epidemiology Unit.

David Evans is Professor of Statistical Genetics at the University of Queensland. His research focuses on dissecting the genetic and environmental aetiology of complex traits and diseases by genome-wide association and Mendelian randomization approaches, with particular interests in osteoporosis, ankylosing spondylitis and the Developmental Origins of Health and Disease (DOHaD). He is active in the development of statistical genetics methodologies especially those involving structural equation modelling and approaches for causal inference. He has active collaborations with George Davey Smith, Deborah Lawlor and others in the MRC IEU.
