Work and Family
It can be a challenge to balance work and family. Not just for those of us with children, but also for those of us who have other responsibilities such as caring for a partner or looking after elderly parents.
We are committed to creating a positive working environment for all colleagues and there are a range of initiatives to help staff strike a balance between work and other responsibilities.
Parents at work
Supporting and retaining colleagues who take leave to raise a family is very important. Find out about the support available and the policies we have in place to all new and expecting parents to help them take leave and to return to their career.
Carers at work
We recognise that many of our colleagues care for elderly or sick family members and dependants. Find out about the support and policies we have in place to help our colleagues who have to balance work and caring duties.
Returning Carers' Scheme
Find out about the scheme for academic staff to help them continue their research following a period of leave. This leave can include maternity, paternity, adoption leave, or leave to care for a dependant.
