When not working on militarized landscapes in Britain, Tim is trying to complete a social and cultural history of the Holocaust in Hungary framed around a series of micro histories of particular individuals, families, communities and places. He is also reviving – both in his work on military landscapes and new work on Holocaust geographies – his past as a graduate student in a geography department, as well as his love of maps and walking the landscape. When not being an urban flâneur or walking along coastal footpaths or through beech woods, Tim can be found in the kitchen cooking, taking photographs or printmaking. Writing ambitions include a next book on Holocaust landscapes, and after that, perhaps a micro history of one apartment building in Budapest or a shift into writing cultural histories of food.
