Bibliographies of publications issued by or about the Chinese Maritime Customs

In collaboration with fellow scholars of aspects of the Customs world, we are building up as full a multi-language bibliography of the history and publications of the CMCS as we can.  You can access the output in various ways.

Download an Excel spreadsheet containing the complete bibliography (216Kb) of primary and secondary materials, including CMCS publications.  This will be regularly updated. Very recent work  is also listed in this bibliography. We would be very happy to receive suggestions for additions to it.  Please contact us.

Click below for CMCS publications by series. There are multiple entries here where we have identified the location of specific copies of items in various libraries. On the whole we have looked at catalogues of the Bodleian, Cambridge University, School of Oriental and African Studies, Library of Congress, British Library and Hong Kong University.
