Do you have an ancestor in the Customs?

We'd like to hear from you if you have family ties to the Chinese Customs Service. We are not able to provide answers to many of the queries that you might have about the details of service of family members or others in the CMCS, but we are now making available online the the key details of service for all staff, of all nationalities. For more information see the page on Service Lists. We may have suggestions or more detailed information -- so do please use this form. We also recommend that you follow this link to advice on researching China Coast family history.

We would like very much to build up a register of those with interests in, or links to, members of the CMCS, and with materials that might aid our research. In this way we can update you on developments in this project, and research tools that might become available. If we have any immediate suggestions or comments then we will contact you by e-mail.

Although there is a large archive of Customs material in China, we are constantly looking for
materials in private hands. Experience has shown us that there is a tremendous amount of
historically interesting material relating to the service and to Chinese history in the possession
of descendants and we are keen to find out about it. We would very much like to know
if you have any of the following:

  1. Documents and other materials relating to his life and death in China
  2. Publications relating to the Chinese Customs Service
  3. Photographs

Please use this box to tell us in greater detail about these materials.

Can we contact you about these materials?   Yes   No

I consent to having my details stored by the CMCP in line with my rights under the Data Protection Act so that these may be retrieved later in the event that the project wishes to contact me about them.
