Biography
Trudy is a qualified nurse and midwife, with a PhD in Developmental Psychology. While her previous work with children and families has been varied, including health care practice (as a midwife), child care provision and research, the common theme throughout reflects her aspiration to discover and implement ways of improving the health and wellbeing of children, young people and families. Trudy has worked at the Centre for Ethics in Medicine since February 2001 and during this time she has worked on two Wellcome Trust funded research projects, the EPEG project and the YREC project.
Teaching and Professional Training Activities
Trudy currently works as part of a team from the Centre for Ethics in Medicine to develop new training programmes in research ethics and clinical ethics for members of ethics committees including: Clinical Ethics Committees; NRES committees and University Research Ethics Committees.
Research Interests
Trudy’s main research interests are in developmental psychology, ethical issues in research with children and young people, and health care.

When not at work, Trudy can be found puzzling over how to keep up with the various interests and pursuits of her family, and still find the time to enjoy hill walking and body-boarding!
