Description |
Poetry Now uses excerpts from recent poetry collections as a springboard for discussions about the current craft and context of contemporary poetry, as well as for prompts for your own work. Each week will include in-class exercises and dedicated time to work on your own pieces, culminating in a celebration session of reading and feedback. Course tutor Dr Carrie Etter is a Lecturer in Creative Writing at the University of Bristol. She has also taught for the University of California, Bath Spa University, the Arvon Foundation, and The Poetry School. An award-winning poet, she has published four collections of poetry, most recently The Weather in Normal, a Poetry Book Society Recommendation. Individual poems have appeared widely internationally in such journals and anthologies as Boston Review, The Iowa Review, The New Republic, The New Statesman, The Penguin Book of the Prose Poem, Poetry Review, and The Times Literary Supplement. She has received grants from the Society of Authors and Arts Council England, and she also writes short fiction, essays, and reviews. |
