Biography

Jocelyn is now retired, she joined the University of Bristol PGCE science team in 2003.

Relocating to Bristol enabled her to follow up her interests in ICT and learning.  In 2004 Jocelyn won a grant from the Wellcome Foundation's Engaging Science Programme to develop a web site - the Bioethics Education Project - to support the teaching of complex ethical issues in schools.  This was soon followed by the Physics Ethics Education Project.  Over the past five years she has evaluated a range PDAs and Smartphones for  potential use in teaching and learning with funding from the TDA and GSoE.  She is now the Membership Secretary of the International Association for Mobile Learning.  A recent EU project MuseumScouts demonstrated how handheld devices and online tools can be used to bring learning in the classroom and from outside together.  She is currently working on another EU Project Co-Creat studying how technology can support creative collaborations and developing teachers' skills in developing learning through creating animations.

She now works occasionally mentoring teachers and Masters dissertation students.

Teaching

Jocelyn is a tutor for both PGCE Science and MSc Science & Education.  She specialises in e-learning, ICT, Physics, Psychology and Research Methods.

Previously she taught informatics, database design, web design and issues in the psychology of education, and managed the MA Educational Studies ICT module and the PGCE in ICT at Loughborough University.
