Schools Discover Economics Challenge 2021

At Bristol, we’re passionate about the benefits of studying economics. It’s an energizing subject that can be used to tackle some of the biggest challenges impacting the world today.

So, what does an Economist do? You may be surprised to know that it’s not only about finance and banking, economics can be applied to health, environment, education and policy.

We want you to experience the power of economics for yourself. That's why, in collaboration with the Royal Economics Society, we’re hosting the School’s Discover Economics Challenge 2021. You will have the opportunity to flex your investigative skills, produce solutions to real life problems and delve into the world of an economist.

The Challenge

As a team, you will be asked to to tackle a real-world economics issue, using your skills to interrogate the problem and the data, then find a solution. You can choose from topics including:

• Inflation
• Teaching Assessment
• Social Care
• Universal Basic Income
• Green Recovery.

Once you’ve concluded your investigation, your team will be required to prepare a short presentation in advance of the event to explain your findings.

On the day of the event, you will be joined by an expert economist panel offering their expert advice and insight.
