BSc Economics Alumna, Adesuwa Okunbo Rhodes is Founder and CEO of a lead Venture Capital and Private Equity Firm, Aruwa Capital Management, in Lagos, Nigeria. Adesuwa has had a successful career in finance and is proud to be ‘breaking the bias’ and improving gender equality in funding in West Africa.

Adesuwa shares her experience as an international student at Bristol and explains how studying economics provided the foundation which helped shape her career. From an internship opportunity inspired by a Women’s dinner with finance professionals hosted by the School, to setting up her own investment fund in Africa and inspiring other women to start their own business.

Aruwa Capital Management is one of the few women owned and managed funds in Africa whose focus is investing in either businesses founded or led my women, those which have diverse teams or are providing essential goods or services that directly improve women’s lives.
