Got your Clearing place: next steps

Congratulations on receiving a place to study at Bristol! Find out the next steps, including getting your CAS number, finding accommodation, applying for funding, and getting disability support.

Visas

Most international students will need a visa to come to the UK to study.

Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS)

Once you have firmly accepted an unconditional offer to study at Bristol and have sent us your passport details, we will email you a Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS).

A CAS is a unique electronic reference number and accompanying electronic virtual document containing information about your course of study, as well as your personal details. It is not a paper document.

Please note your CAS will be issued by the Admissions team handling your application to the University, not the Student Visas team.

You can read more about the CAS and how you will receive it on the Student Visas webpages.

Applying for your visa

You must enter your CAS number on your visa application form.

Having a CAS does not guarantee your application will be successful; you must still meet all the other eligibility criteria.

If you notice any errors in the information contained in your CAS, email pbs-cas-requests@bristol.ac.uk before making a visa application.

Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS)

Your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) will indicate whether you require ATAS clearance. Find out more about how to apply for ATAS clearance.

Accommodation

If you have got a place at Bristol through Clearing, you can apply for University accommodation the day after your place is confirmed by UCAS.

You will need your University of Bristol student number in order to apply, which will be sent to you by email when we confirm your place at Bristol.

Applications will be open from 18 August to 31 August 2023 (subject to availability).

Due to limited availability, you will not be guaranteed an offer of University accommodation. We advise that you also look for accommodation in the private sector alongside your application.

Tuition fees and funding

Make sure you make financial arrangements to cover your tuition fees and living costs before starting your course. Tuition fees are listed for each course on the online course finder.

EU students

Most EU students starting their studies in the academic year 2021/22 or later will be charged overseas tuition fees and will not be eligible for student loans from the UK government. You can check your fee status to confirm the fees you will pay.

Disability Services

If you have a disability that you haven't yet told us about, please contact Disability Services to find out how we can support you and how that support may be funded.
