Studying at Bristol

The University of Bristol is a UK top-10 university with an international reputation for high-quality education and research. We are ranked 9th in the UK overall (QS Rankings 2024) and 5th for research (THE analysis of REF 2021). We are also ranked as the 4th most sustainable university in the UK (QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2024).

Bristol is a friendly and diverse place to study. The University is home to around 30,000 students. Over 28% of our students are international, with more than 150 countries represented. We have a world-class city campus near the centre of Bristol, with state-of-the-art facilities and technology.

All of our exciting undergraduate summer school courses carry academic credits. When you pass your academic course, you’ll receive a University of Bristol transcript. You can present this to your home university to request credits for your degree.

Exploring a leading UK city

Bristol is one of the UK’s most vibrant and exciting cities. It is proud of its creativity, diversity and independent spirit and it’s known for its culture, music scene, history and café culture.

Bristol is a great mid-size city – you don’t get overwhelmed like you would in London. It’s laid back, and it has lots of green spaces, chic cafes and diversity.

Maya, Malaysia

With all of the buzz of a major city but without the expanse, Bristol is truly walkable. It’s also a friendly, safe place to live and is home to people from 187 nationalities.

Bristol has won many accolades in national surveys, including the UK’s kindest city (GalaBingo/52 Lives, 2020) and the best place to live in Britain (Sunday Times, 2017). It’s committed to sustainability and was the first British city to be named European Green Capital.
