Malachite

Malachite is naturally-occurring copper carbonate, with a characteristic bright green colour. This polished slice, cut through a botryoidal mass (shaped like a bunch of grapes), shows that the mineral was deposited in layers. The specimen is from Arizona, USA, and was acquired as part of the John Taylor collection.
