Cube of Contexts

This toolkit has been created for you to use flexibly within your team. You can use this toolkit to explore and communicate the different context that you each work in, how you work, and what is important in your field. It is a way to introduce the world you inhabit to your collaborators and to be curious about each others.

Your "Cube of Context" is a playful tool to use to in order to begin to understand the individuals within your team on a deeper level. We often find that the conversation that follows is where the value lies.

Suggested use of the toolkit

  1. Print out the toolkit.
  2. Cut out the net of the cube and fold and stick the net together to create a cube shape.
  3. Gather your group in a comfortable place, with a beverage of choice.
  4. Begin by rolling or gently throwing the cube in the middle of you.
  5. Look at the side facing upwards. Using the context you work in, answer the questions in the black font that are relevant to you.
  6. Pass the cube for context on to the next person. Take it in turns to share your answers to this topic.
  7. When everyone has shared and listened, discuss the question in red together.
  8. Now roll the cube again and pick a different side to discuss.
  9. Keep repeating until all sides have been discussed.

Is there an important topic that is missing from the Cube of Contexts? Add it to the blank side of the cube and share your experiences.
