Our priorities

Encouraging the Scholarship of Learning and Teaching is a key priority for BILT. In 2020 BILT expanded, taking on core staff development activities for those who teach and developing a repository of case studies

BILT’s core team is small, consisting of approximately 8 FTE staff. We focus our work on key themes which change each year to reflect current areas of interest for the higher education sector. For 2023/24 our themes are:

  • International student experience
  • Designing for all – inclusive assessment
  • Designing for all – AI and assessment
  • Designing for all – Group assessment
  • Pedagogic research culture

BILT also works closely with the Curriculum Enhancement Programme.

Events

Each year we organise events to celebrate excellence in teaching and to provide students with a space to demonstrate their skills and knowledge. There will be ad-hoc activities throughout the year, but our core activities are:

We also provide support for national teaching awards such as the National Teaching Fellowship (NTF) and Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence (CATE) schemes.
