Conference and Research Funding for PGR Students from the Faculty

Postgraduate research students who require financial support for either a conference they wish to attend or for a research trip are eligible to apply for funding from the Conference/Research Fund. Students can apply for funding to help cover such costs as transport, accommodation and registration fees.

Given the volume of applications, a maximum of £250 per application is specified. You are permitted to make up to 2 applications to the fund per academic year, (pro rata for part-time students so 1 application and priority consideration may be given to students applying for funding for the first time over students that have received support previously).

Please note: The academic year relates to the budget year which is 1 August to 31 July each year.

Applications should be submitted well in advance of the conference or research trip to which they are related. Any applications that are submitted after the date of the conference or reseearch trip will be declined.

Note: PGRs who need to travel to undertake research or attend a conference whether in the UK or abroad, will need to follow the same procedure as staff in order to gain approval from the university. What is required depends on whether the travel is domestic or international, and there'll need to be a clear requirement for the travel to take place.

Please refer to the University travel guidance on SharePoint before considering undertaking any travel and making an application to the Fund.

All travel and accomadation bookings must be booked via the Travel Management Company (Clarity) as per the Travel and Expense policy.

The Global Travel SharePoint site has been updated and now includes information about how to track real-time travel disruption, so you can be prepared for your journey.

SafeZone App

The use of the SafeZone app is mandatory by all PGRs who are travelling on business or are working/studying abroad.

All applications handed in throughout each month will be assessed by the Faculty team and a decision will be made by no later than the end of that month and communicated to the applicant, usually via email.

To apply for support from this fund an application form needs to be completed and submitted to Louise Basey via email at .
