Get involved

Find out how you can get involved and make a difference to the University of Bristol through our alumni volunteering programme.

In addition to volunteering with the University, you can connect with your community through well-established alumni-led networks and groups around the world which always welcome new members. You might consider running your own event, such as through the Global Gatherings programme. If you are interested in organising a reunion or social event for alumni, you may be able to apply for an Alumni Association Initiative Grant to help with funding.

Why volunteer?

Volunteering is an opportunity to strengthen the University of Bristol community by giving back. As a volunteer you can share your experience with current students and recent graduates.

Take a look at our Alumni Volunteering Guide (PDF, 1,498kB) or scroll down to see how you can get involved.

Share your career insights with students and recent graduates

You can share insights into your role, industry and career journey with students and recent graduates in a one-off conversation. This support helps students and recent graduates to explore potential career paths, build their confidence and gain practical advice on taking their next steps. To hear more about Career Connections or to get involved email alumni-volunteers@bristol.ac.uk.

Mentor a student

Welcome international students to Bristol

Bristol Voices pairs local alumni volunteers with international students, helping to welcome and support them as they settle into life at the University, in a new city and culture.

Offer advice to students moving abroad

Global Voices pairs alumni volunteers with Bristol students embarking on their year abroad. Alumni can offer local advice, guidance and encouragement as students settle into their work or study placement.

Volunteer at employability events

Throughout the year we have opportunities for alumni to get involved and volunteer their time at a range of events which support student and graduate employability. This could be digital or in-person sessions such as open days, talks or interviews. You can choose what type of events you are interested in supporting and a member of staff will then be in touch when opportunities arise.
