Where is the East Residential Village?
The East Village residences are based in and around Bristol's busy and vibrant city centre, which is within easy walking distance of the University campus and benefits from an endless supply of shops, cafes and bars. Nearby shopping centres include Cabot Circus, The Galleries and Broadmead, which together have over 500 shops, cafes and restaurants. There are cinemas and theatres, as well as Bristol’s vibrant Harbourside, which hosts many festivals and events throughout the year, and is a popular area for nights out.
The East Village is less than one mile from the main Clifton campus, where the majority of lectures take place, but there is a large hill! For Undergraduate students your accommodation fee includes a bus pass for the Bristol UniBus U1 service. This is a fast and frequent bus service linking the city centre with the campus. The pass will allow you to have unlimited travel on the Bristol UniBus U1 service (term time only) for the 2022/23 academic year.
Other options include walking or cycling to campus.
What's life like in the East Village?
Because of it's city centre location, our East Village residences are popular with students who want to immerse themselves in city life. In the East Village students benefit from all Bristol's nightlife on their doorstep as well as shops, restaurants. East Village residences tend to be newer buildings with en suite accommodation, which is another reason this village is so popular with our students.
Being in the centre has a lot of benefits but it is also likely to be noisy in places with traffic and nightlife. These are aspects of city life all over the world that we cannot control so it's best to plan ahead and bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper! But it's not all hustle and bustle. Bristol is renowned for the large number of parks and green spaces in the heart of the city, so there are still plenty of places to sit and relax on a sunny day, including Brandon Hill Park, Castle Park and the Harbourside.
It's important to remember that although you'll be able to select East Village residences as options in your application, the University will allocate your residence so an offer of accommodation in a specific village cannot be guaranteed - find out more on our how to apply pages.
