Prepare for further study and careers
We offer courses and activities to give you a taste of what it’s like to study at university, as well as offering pathways into studying and working at the University of Bristol.
Post-16
- Access to Bristol is a scheme which gives local students a taste of student life. Students who successfully complete the course will be guaranteed a contextual offer or interview.
- Bristol Scholars is a programme for talented students in the city of Bristol, who can be nominated by their schools. Successful students receive academic support and take part in a range of activities to empower them to succeed in post-16 education. Bristol Scholars will be eligible for a personalised offer of a place, or interview.
- STEM Up is an online short course for Year 12 students, offering the opportunity to take part in activities and attend taster seminars hosted by our academics and students.
Pre- and post-16
- Future Quest offers resources and activities, that can be built into the academic year, designed to support the students of Bristol and South Gloucestershire to consider next steps for education and employment.
- FutureLearn helps students to access free online courses about sustainable futures, global citizenship, and innovation and enterprise. Register with FutureLearn.

- University Botanic Garden - suitable for all ages. Tours can be tailored to match your project or curriculum themes.
- Arts and Social Sciences Library - for post-16 students.
- The Theatre Collection - suitable for ages 11 and older. Bring your students to explore one of the largest collections of British theatre history.
- Wills Memorial Tower group tour - for students aged 8 and older.
Workshops in your school
Workshops that can be arranged to take place in your school.
- Inspire the next generation of technical innovators at a Digimakers roadshow workshop. For Key Stages 2 to 5.
- Learn about Bristol’s own dinosaur at the Bristol Dinosaur Project. For Key Stages 1 to 4.
- Engage your students about the environment and environmental issues by booking a session run by the Cabot Institute for the Environment. For Key Stages 1 to 5.
- Promote the development of core scientific skills at Investigate series workshops. For Key Stage 3.
- Book interactive legal education workshops at Community Impact Team. Covering topics such as rights relating to stop and search, and healthy relationships and consent laws. For Key Stages 3 to 5.

- Bristol Neuroscience Festival - an annual three-day festival for all ages where you can get stuck into experiments, take part in activities, and play brain games.
- Festival of Nature - the UK’s largest free celebration of the natural world run by the Natural History Consortium.
- FUTURES Festival of Discovery - a city-wide festival to bring science, culture and research to life.
- Digimakers - a series of free, hands-on workshops for children aged 7 to 18, parents and educators interested in being creative with electronics and computing.
